Really? Is it that great?

In chapter five the monster is finally created, after two years of grueling work by Frankenstein! But Victor is abhorrent, after seeing the monster and examining its imperfections, to the thought or slightest reminder of the Creature. After all of Victor's work and time put into his magnificent creation he cannot bear the mention of it? I think this is because he imagined it to be a super race, a perfect person...but it wasn't and it never would be. This drove Victor into madness, forcing Henry to care for him during his illness. Have you ever thought something to be much greater than it really is? or it ever will be?

  1. Hey Preston! I love your blog and all you pictures.
To answer your question I sometimes feel that way before I go on a trip or something of that nature. I will look forward to it for weeks and image what its going to be like and as a result I end up getting my hopes up really high. Sometimes I end up disappointed like Victor was with the monster because my expectations were unrealistic just like his.

  2. Yes! Sometimes even in the same ways that he believed it would be much greater. For instance, practicing for many weeks to be able to perform for anything in front of a big crowd (a play, a basketball game, a football game, etc.) sometimes we believe that after it is over and we have accomplished it, we will feel amazing, but many times that is not the case. Many times its just the same as it was before, not gaining fame or fortune.

  3. I think he was so power hungry that he didn't notice he was creating something so hideous. He figured people would love him for raising the dead.
